The Dental World was never perfect. In 2000, the surgeon general announced that a silent epidemic of dental disease existed. Lux Dental knew then as we do now that oral disease is associated with heart disease, respiratory illness, diabetes and much more. For many in healthcare, this was no revelation; it is common sense that illness in your mouth would affect the rest of your body. 80 percent of dental disease fell upon 20% of children. The elderly and the poor had inadequate and inconsistent access to care.

In 2007, Drs. Abe Abdul, Saeed Kashefi, and Ms. Loan Huynh aspired to make a difference. With limited funding, little experience in running a practice, they gave life to Lux Dental. “Lux” meaning light, was to represent a beacon of hope in enlightening the cause for better oral health. They believed then, as they do now, that patients are just people seeking respect, care and empathy. That the highest standards of care along with a touch of love would heal the masses. The fight to provide care, improve care and advocate for care started in the clinics, but later extended way beyond.

For over a decade, our team has advocated the legislature. Both on Beacon Hill and Capitol Hill. We are the voice for those without a voice. We have educated the populous on oral health by partnering with community organizations. Our doctors are consistently talking about health at seminars and on media. To teach others of our vision, we have developed internships that train the next generation of doctors and healthcare professionals. Members of our team have even travelled globally to teach and serve the less fortunate. Healthcare needed a little marketing, so Lux’s Mission Space brought the message of oral health to the stratosphere.

Today Lux Dental continues to provide discounted and free care to many in its community. It has been a long journey, and we have endured many fights. But we look towards the future. As you watch this video, we are drafting new strategies to lobby for the expansion of dental care for our seniors. Our clinical team is studying how we serve our patients, and how we can do better. Our innovations team is working on technologies that will change the way you envision your smile.

Together, we can make a change. Thank you for believing in us. We can’t wait to help share your smile with the world.

Dr. Abe is awesome! I was so pleased with his service. I have always feared to go to the dentist due to my sensitive teeth. I have always had issues with my teeth – and Dr. Abe created a plan that accommodated my lifestyle and needs. He was honest and told me what my options are and discussed the pros and cons of each. He chatted through each dental issue – and I am actually not dreading going back to get started. Very happy with this dentist! Found my go to in Cambridge.

Special COVID-19 Alert Message

Our hearts go out to those who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a company that cares deeply about our patients and team members, we have taken necessary measures to ensure the safety of all by employee and patient screening as well as added extreme sanitization measures.

So much is unknown right now, but one thing we do know is that we can help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and protect ourselves and our community by taking steps to limit our exposure to others. This is why we have made the decision to be open on a very limited number of hours on an emergency basis only. We will be checking our voice mailbox often, so please contact us if you need an emergency appointment. I’m confident we will get through these difficult times together.
